Minute Meditations - The New Year

The New Year
2 Cor. 5:17-18
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
What do people appreciate about the new year? It is a chance to start anew. There’s a new calendar, with a new month in a new year. It makes us remember that each day is important, every day is a new opportunity.
For a believer in Christ, this is even more true. For it is not just true on a new day or new year, but anytime. We are continually being made new. The perfect tense of the verb shows that when we became “in Christ” the being made new started, God’s work continues unabated until the future time when God says, “Behold, I am making all things new." (Rev. 21:5)
Have you realized a life without God eventually grows oppressively more stale and listless? Turn from your sin to Christ and be made anew!
Believer, do you recognize God’s continuing work? That old habit, that old neglect can be made new by the power of God!
